TCLS COURSE INFORMATION AND FEES FOR 2021-2022
GENERAL ENGLISH (ESOL)
The General English ESOL program at TCLS offers learners of all levels the opportunity to improve their English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar with a focus on communication. Our ESOL courses are designed with everyday life in mind, so the learner will be better able to communicate either in an English-speaking country or abroad. Students will explore a diverse range of topics to be better able to communicate in different environments.
Intensive Group* ESOL – ALL LEVELS (START DATES TBA)
The Intensive program at TCLS offers students the opportunity to learn English quickly in an interactive, group environment. All Intensive classes are grouped according to level. Intensive ESOL Express is a general English course which provides the learner with 15 hours per week (3 hours per day) of instruction, while Intensive ESOL Extra provides an additional three hours per week (45 minutes per day) of instruction with the teacher following the Express class. ESOL Extra is an opportunity for the learner to focus his/her attention on the areas in need of the most work in a personalized environment. Intensive ESOL Employment Extra embeds the specialist career of the student in order to learn specialist vocabulary in their field in addition to the general English ESOL Express experience.

AMERICAN ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION AND ACCENT REDUCTION
The Accent Reduction program at TCLS is offered to advanced and proficient speakers of English who wish improve their pronunciation in American English. Accent Reduction sessions are offered privately, as each learner has specific needs. This flexible program is suitable also for those who live abroad and wish to improve their pronunciation with a native speaker. Online sessions are conducted via Zoom. All sessions (Zoom or in person) are one hour each.

TEST PREPARATION COURSES: TOEFL, TOEIC, CAMBRIDGE, PEARSON, IELTS
Introduction to TOEFL 1 (15 hours)
This taster course serves as an introduction to the TOEFL examination. The learner will gain an initial understanding of what is required to take the test, the structure of each section of the test, and the types of questions that the candidate will encounter. Each learner will be given a full TOEFL diagnostic test in reading, writing, listening, and speaking at the start of the course. The results of the test will be used to develop a personalized plan for each learner to assist in their development in all four skills and focus on the language areas which require the most attention.
Prerequisite: the learner must be at an advanced level of English to enroll for the TOEFL program. Level is determined by a placement test given by the teacher during registration. If the learner does not test to an advanced level with a very high score, s/he will be advised to take General English (ESOL) to increase his/her level.
TOEFL 2 (15 hours)
This second half of the TOEFL program at TCLS builds on the foundations covered in TOEFL 1. The learner will acquire additional exam strategies and techniques in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in order to maximize his/her results on each component of the test. Utilizing the personalized plan established in TOEFL 1, the learner will continue to concentrate on the language areas which require the most attention, enabling the learner to complete the exam with confidence. Practice mock exams will be given to provide the learner with constant feedback on their progress.
Prerequisite: successful completion of TOEFL 1.

TOEFL DIAGNOSTIC TEST (INDIVIDUAL)
TCLS also offers a full *one-time TOEFL diagnostic test at a fraction of the cost of taking the actual examination. The test taker will take a past TOEFL paper (about 4 hours) in an authentic setting which will be rated by our TOEFL instructor. Individual, in depth feedback will be provided in a one hour session. The instructor will provide recommendations of what steps the test taker will need to take based on the results of the diagnostic. The taker must also take the placement diagnostic test prior to taking the TOEFL diagnostic.
*Please note: this test is included in the TOEFL 1 course, so the fee is included in the course. If the student pays the $100 fee and later decides to enroll on a TOEFL course within one (1) month, the $100 fee will be deducted from the TOEFL course fees.

Private TOEIC, IELTS, Pearson, and Cambridge English Preparation Courses
The private TOEIC, IELTS, Pearson, and Cambridge English preparation courses at TCLS are designed for those new to the exams or those who need more practice. The learner will gain an initial understanding of what is required to take the test, the structure of each section of the test, and the types of questions that the candidate will encounter. Each learner will be given a full diagnostic test in reading, writing, listening, and speaking at the start of the course. The results of the test will be used to develop a personalized plan for each learner to assist in their development in all four skills and focus on the language areas which require the most attention.

Level is determined by a placement test given by the teacher during registration. If the learner does not test to an advanced level with a very high score, s/he will be advised to take General English (ESOL) to increase his/her level. For those learners wishing to take Cambridge KET, PET, or FCE, the learner must test to the appropriate level for each examination. If the learner does not score appropriately, they will be recommended to take General English (ESOL) to increase their level of English to the required standard.

TEST PREPARATION COURSES: U.S. CITIZENSHIP TEST PREPARATION (N-400)
The U.S. test preparation course at TCLS is offered to learners elementary through advanced. The learner explores the basic functions of the United States and Florida governments, the U.S.-American political system, a brief history of the United States covering the major events, U.S. geography, and U.S.-American culture. Emphasis is placed on test preparation to enable the learner to be successful on the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) N-400 naturalization test.
Please note: As of April 19, 2021, USCIS has reinstated the 2008 version of the N-400 civics test, and will no longer administer the 2020 version.

GENERAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE CONVERSATION
The General English Language Conversation program at TCLS is designed for intermediate, advanced, and proficient learners who wish to spend time practicing their speaking privately with a native speaker. This program is personalized around the learner, and focuses only on speaking and listening in an authentic environment. This program is offered either in person or via Skype. Grammar and pronunciation are corrected orally using communicative techniques. This program is not offered to beginners or elementary learners.
