What we offer
Treasure Coast Language Services (TCLS) offers English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs. Our provision includes general ESOL and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) courses at all levels for adult learners, teens, and college/university students. We provide preparatory courses for English language examinations such as the ETS® TOEFL and TOEIC examinations, IELTS, Cambridge English Main Suite (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, and CPE), Trinity, and U.S. Citizenship Test Preparation. Our provision also includes embedded/vocational ESOL courses, such as English for Business, English for Aviation, English for Culinary Arts, English for Law, and more. Our individualized Accent Reduction courses offer advanced and proficient non-native users of English to improve their pronunciation skills in American English.

The administration and the teaching staff of TCLS are dedicated as a team to providing an exemplary service from the first point of contact, through the diagnostic process and choice of program, in the classroom, and sessions for goal setting and learner assessment. Our professional team
The teaching staff at TCLS consists of native speaking teaching professionals with college degrees and certifications in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and/or English as a Foreign Language (EFL). They have many years of teaching experience both in the United States and abroad. The teaching staff at TCLS uses a wide range of innovative teaching methods and techniques in a stimulating learning environment, maximizing learner interaction and achievement.
Our Team
Meet the President and CEO
Jay Sherry is the President, Founder, and CEO of Treasure Coast Language Services. A native of Hampton Bays, Long Island, New York, Jay has over 18 years of extensive ESOL teaching experience both in the United States and abroad. Jay is bilingual in English and Italian.
Jay started his teaching career in London, United Kingdom, where he earned his Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) at Westminster Kingsway College (WKC) in 2002. He then became a full-time ESOL lecturer within the Foundation Learning Faculty at WKC, where he remained until 2014. In addition to ESOL courses, he also taught Business courses in the business department. In 2012, he also joined the Teacher Training department, where he trained future ESOL teachers.
After leaving WKC in 2014, Jay was visiting adjunct professor for one semester at the Federal University of Viçosa in Brazil, where he was a teacher trainer and taught some ESOL courses within the languages department. In 2015, he moved back to the United States, settling in South Florida.
Jay specializes in general ESOL, basic literacy, ESOL examination preparation (Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson, Trinity), Accent Reduction and Pronunciation in American English, study skills, writing skills, International Business Communication, and more.
Jay resides on the Treasure Coast, in Stuart, and his main ambition is to make outstanding English language provision easily accessible on the Treasure Coast, focusing on Okeechobee, Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin Counties.
Not only is Jay the boss at TCLS, he’s also the Head Teacher! In his free time, he loves travelling, cooking, geography, the theatre, music, and most importantly, soaking up the sun on the beautiful beaches of the Treasure Coast! He’s also a big fan of The Golden Girls.
Meet our Vice President and Educational Consultant
Donna L. Ferrara, PhD, serves as the Vice President and Educational Consultant at TCLS. Not only does she serve as consultant, she is also the President’s mother! Dr. Ferrara has had an extensive career in education, spanning six decades. She obtained her PhD in Educational Administration from New York University in 1992. In her career, she taught high school English, served as curriculum coordinator for a New York school district, and was an Associate Professor of Education at Long Island University before her retirement from full-time teaching in 2004. Dr. Ferrara continues to share her experience and expertise both privately and at TCLS, helping us to improve and enrich our curriculum on a regular basis.
